This is a portrait of Trina. She is one of the kindest and strongest people I know. She has a loving heart but won’t be pushed around. A real badass!

She answered my two questions with the following answers:

1) Most of my life I have had very low self-esteem. This is based on many factors from being made fun of and teased by my peers and family, to various abuses (both mental and physical) that I have had to deal with in my life. I have learned to hide how I truly feel about things and mask my own insecurities. Learning to accept who I am and how I feel about myself are ongoing challenges.

2) Show compassion for yourself and others. You never know what someone else may be going through mentally and/or physically. Don't judge or make assumptions based on looks or single interactions, learn more. You don't know what hurts, anxieties, pressures, or stigmas others may be dealing with. Know that your voice matters so use it wisely.
